    Stapelia Leendertzia. Bell Stapelia.

The Stapelia Leendertzia is a fascinating fast growing succulent plant. The pale green stems are quadrangular in form with no spines at all and trail pleasingly down over the pot. Spectacular flowers are produced in late summer at the base or lower part of new branches, bell shaped at first becoming a star shape when fully open, up to 8cm in diameter and 12cm long. Dark purple-dark maroon in colour on the outide and a blackish purple inside each has many fine hairs at its centre. The flower also gives off quite a sickly sweet scent, its way of ensuring pollination, but it is not overpowering even close up .

Very easy to keep, great for growing in pots needing minimal maintenance
