    Origin: Mutant from Echinocactus Grusonii.

    Hardiness: Tolerate light frost if dry but wintering inside is preferable .

    Growth Characteristics: Very showy roughly spherical Cactus.  Pronounced ribs in mature plants with very short variable spines along ribs. Small vivid yellow flowers appear in summer around the crown when mature. Slow growing.

    Sun: Full sun.

    Exposure: Sheltered.

    Soil: Fast draining soil. Gritty.

    Moisture: Water around every 14 days. Allow to dry between waterings. Keep dry in winter.

    The Echinocactus Grusonii var Inermis is a mutant of the standard Golden Barrel Cactus or Echinocactus Grusonii which occured in cultivation. Mid green in colour and roughly spherical it has many pronounced ribs when mature, with numerous areoles from which radial spines emerge from, in shades of yellow. Small vivid yellow flowers appear in summer around the crown on mature plants if they have had ample sunshine..
