    Origin: Central Mexico.

    Hardiness: Hardy down to -4 for short periods

    Growth Characteristics: Evergreen, perennial columnar Cactus. Branching ocurs. Stems deep green with around 5-7 ribs. White coloured areoles each bearing 1 yellowish spine up to 1cm in length and 5-9 short radial ones. Edible fruit follows the pink or red nocturnal flowers. Drought tolerant once established. Easy to grow.

    Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

    Exposure: Sheltered.

    Soil: Well drained soil. Gritty.

    Moisture: Water more in summer and during growing period. Allow to dry between waterings. Keep dry in winter.

    Stenocereus Marginatus. Mexican Fence Post Cactus.

    The Stenocereus Marginatus Cactus is a upright and bold looking columnar variety of cacti. Long, thick, deep green stems branch from the base as it matures, each having 5-7 ribs along which a tidy row of areoles and spines are found. The areoles are white and around 1cm apart each housing one yellowish central spine up to 1cm long and 5-9 short radial ones. Spines in the younger plants tend to be longer than in the mature ones.
