    Latin Name: Rhipsalis Pilocarpa.

    Common Name: Wickerware Cactus. Hairy-fruited Wickerware Cactus. Jungle Cactus.

    Origin: Souheastern Brazil.

    Hardiness: Better kept above 5 degrees.

    Growth Characteristics:  Hanging cactus. Evergreen. Long succulent segmented stems variable in length. Very hairy. Can be dark green to purple. Smallish flowers, white in colour. Epiphytic plants. Require little maintenance. Long lived

    Sun: Partial sun.

    Exposure: Indoor Houseplant. Can be moved outside into filtered light (not direct sunshine) through summer.

    Soil: Well drained soil largely composed of organic matter.

    Moisture: Water during growing season. Allow to dry between waterings. When top 0.5 inch of soil is dry then water. Needs a little more water than regular cacti. Can mist leaves to provide a little humidity.

    Rhipsalis Pilocarpa. Hanging Cactus.
    The Rhipsalis Pilocarpa Cactus has long and hairy dark green to purple succulent pendent stems. Very attractive these thin cylindrical sprawling stems cascade down over the pot giving a waterfall effect. Each stem is tipped with a white funnel shaped flower which have a lovely sweet fragrance and are then followed by deep red bristly berries. Classed as vunerable in the wild by the IUCN Red List due to lack of habitat due to agriculture and urbanization

    These types of cacti are Epiphytic, meaning in habitat they grow in trees or on rocks, getting their nutrients from the air or dead leaves and other debris collected in the cracks or crevasses.
