Pseudophoenix Sargentii. Bucaneer Palm
The Pseudophoenix Sargentii or Bucaneer Palm is a medium size and slow growing palm. Solitary trunked, it is greyish-green with closely set leaf scar rings when young but turning grey as it matures. A slight bulge is present at around the halfway point. The crown, which is not often completely spherical consists of between 8-16 elegantly arching pinnate leaves up to 7ft long. Bluish-green in colour with over 100 leaflets growing on slightly different planes it is a very handsome palm. The crownshaft is smooth and waxy, bluish-greenish in colour. No spines are present.

One of the most salt and wind tolerant of all palms, however it is now endangered in its natural habitat. Suited to growing in containers outside in summer, but winter protection is necessary.
