    Phyllostachys Viridis ‘Sulphurea’. Edible Bamboo.

Phyllostachys Viridis ‘Sulphurea’ is a very large graceful and attractive bamboo. Growing up to 30ft in height with canes of diameter up to 10cm. Hardy down to -20 degrees, it’s tall, strong, green canes mature to become a  beautiful golden colour sometimes having a dark green striation and densely covered in light green lance shaped leaves. New shoots are produced around May time which are edible hence it’s common name. In cooler climates shoot production is slow so it doesnt tend to run and usually behaves itself in the UK climate. This eye-catching bamboo is perfect for providing both a visual and a sound barrier in the shape of a hedge. Alternatively they look great as a single specimen plant.
