    Origin: Argentina, Bolivia.

    Hardiness: Hardy down to -2

    Growth Characteristics: Slow growing shrubby branching Cactus. Does not have spines, but sparse white glochids. Numerous flowers are orange to coppery-red. Stimulated to bloom by dryness.

    Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

    Exposure: Sheltered.

    Soil: Well drained soil. Gritty.

    Moisture: Water around every 10-14 days. Allow to dry between waterings. Keep dry in winter.

    Opuntia Veshaffeltti. Cacti.
    The Opuntia Veshaffeltti is a branching shrubby Cactus forming a dense clumps up to 10-30cm tall. Shoots are elongated and round with cylindrical leaves in young plants. White glochids (hair-like prickles) are few and variable 1-6cm in length.

    Numerous flowers are orange  to coppery-red in colour. The plant can take on a reddish-purple blush when exposed to full sunlight.

    Very easy to keep, great for growing in pots and needs minimal maintenance. In habitat they grow at high altitudes on grasslands and barren hills.
