Opuntia ‘Blue Ale’ Cactus.
The Opuntia ‘Blue Ale’ is a dense shrubby tree-like variety of cactus. The pads are elongated and paddle shaped, olive green-grey but fading in colour as they mature. Needle-like spines are clustered into groups of 2-4 being between 2-3cm long and creamy-white in colour, coming from darkish areoles which are set quite close together. Many hair-like radial spines can be quite long giving a tufted look.
Quite hard to find, but they are very easy to keep, great for growing in pots, needing minimal maintenance. Very attractive and durable.
