    JUBAEA CHILENSIS.

The Jubaea Chilensis is an unusual collectors palm native to South America. It is now a protected species in it,s native habitat as years of “farming”  it for it’s sap has decimated the population. The sap is fermented into palm wine or commonly today, into a sweet syrup(palm honey) for culinery uses.
It is the most spectatcular and cold hardiest of the feather palms that will weather normal AUS winters without a problem.
Do not confuse with the Phoenix Canariensis(Canary Island Date Palm). Although somewhat similar in overall appearance, the Jubaea is slower growing and does not have the large thorns at the leaf base.
