Growth Characteristics: Evergreen, perennial shrubby Cactus. Branching ocurs. Slender stems have around 7-9 ribs. Velvety areoles each bear 1 occasionally 2 central spines and 4-7 short radial ones. Fruit follows the nocturnal white sem-funnel shaped flowers. Easy to grow.

Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

Exposure: Sheltered.

Soil: Well drained soil. Gritty.

Moisture: Water more in summer and during growing period. Allow to dry between waterings. Keep dry in winter.

    The Harrisia Tetracantha Cactus is an unusual shrubby variety of cactus which branches from the base. This perennial evergreen succulent only reaches heights of around 3m in it’s native habitat. The cylindrical stems have 7-9 ribs with whitish coloured velvety areoles, housing 1 and occasionally 2 stout central spines around 3cm long and 4-7 radial ones which are 1-2cm long. The new growth has golden spines turning grey as they age.
