Common Name: Triangle Palm.
Native: Madagascar.
Hardiness: Frost tender.
Growth Characteristics: Solitary trunk. Leaf bases are arranged to form the shape of a triangle. Tall, stiff, grey-green pinnate leaves grow almost upright from the trunk and arc gracefully around 1m from the tip. Upright trunk, brown-grey in colour is smooth but marked by rings of fallen leaves. Extremely drought tolerant.
Exposure: Sheltered.
Sunlight: full sun.
Soil: Sandy, well draining.
Moisture: Water moderately during summer. Allow to dry between waterings. Do not overwater. Rarely through winter.

The Dypsis Decaryi is a very spectacular palm native to Madagascar. This imposing and beautiful palm tree is characterized by the unique way the leaf bases are arranged to form the shape of a triangle. Tall, stiff, grey-green pinnate leaves grow almost upright from the trunk and arc gracefully around 1m from the tip. The solitary trunk, brown-grey in colour is upright and smooth but marked by rings of fallen leaves.
Although frost tender the shape of this beautiful palm makes it perfect for growing in a corner position of a bright conservatory, greenhouse or atrium. A highly ornamental palm which makes a great specimen but is still quite hard to come by.
