    Dioon Edule.

The Dioon Edule is a very attractive palm-like Cycad. It is one of the most primitive and unusual ornamental plants.

Straight blue-green leaves are pinnate, between 3-6ft long and are arranged in an open rosette with stiff narrow leaflets which taper to a fairly sharp point. The trunk is usually unbranched and can grow to be quite tall, but over a large number of years as these Cycads are very slow growing. Drought and salt resistant, they are very easy to grow, thriving with minimal care. The Dioon Edule is one of the most cold hardy Cycads tolerating short periods of -5 degrees however it is a perfect feature plant in any conservatory, atrium or greenhouse bringing that exotic feel. It has  been attained the Award For Garden Merit by The RHS.
