    Latin Name: Cereus Peruvianus

    Common Name: Peruvian Apple Cactus, Giant Club Cactus, Hedge Cactus, Apple Cactus, Queen of the Night.

    Origin: South America, ABC Islands, Dutch Carribean.

    Hardiness: Hardy down to -5 for short periods if kept dry.

    Growth Characteristics: Fast growing Columnar Cactus. Pale green in colour with groups of golden or brown spines. Nocturnal large white with reddish tips fragranced flowers. Large pear shaped thornless edible fruit.

    Sun: Full sun/partial shade.

    Exposure: Exposed/sheltered.

    Soil: Sharply draining soil. Gritty.

    Moisture: Water regularly in summer. Allow to dry fully between waterings. Keep dry in winter.

    Cereus Peruvianus Cactus. Peruvian Apple Cactus
    The Cereus Peruvianus is a fast growing tree like variety of cacti. On maturity it has numerous  upright or slightly curved pale green branches with between 5-9 ribs. Small areoles are set wide apart with groups of golden-brown coloured spines, the longest of which is up to 5cm long.

    This Cactus is a night flowering species with large fragranced white flowers with reddish tips, reaching sizes of 15cm across and 12-15cm long. The thornless edible succulent fruit is pear shaped and very large, containing a sweet white pulp and crunchy seeds. Skin colour can vary.
