Growth: Slow growing, solitary trunk palm with nearly circular deeply divided fan shaped leaves, glossy medium-dark green on top with silvery green undersides. Very salt and drought tolerant. Unusual palm for the UK.

Exposure: Better sheltered in the UK, but can tolerate wind.
Soil: Sandy quick draining soil.
Moisture: water regularly through summer, less through winter. Drought resistant.
Thrinax Radiata.
The Thrinax Radiata is slow growing very graceful palm. Usually having a solitary slender trunk, being straight and smooth with typically lots of dead roots above the ground. Topping the trunk there is no crownshaft, but between 12-20 nearly circular, deeply divided palmate leaves, glossy medium-dark green on the topside and silvery-green undersides. Very attractive when young this striking architectural palm is quite unusual for the UK and great for collectors.
